Club Meeting Tomorrow Night! Testing Available.

Herb here from the East Bay Amateur Radio Club wanting to remind everyone that tomorrow is the monthly club meetup at the VFW post hall out on Pike.

East Bay has 633 licensed amateurs, but only 50-60 of you guys show up. Make tomorrow your night to make an appearance!

As always, you can come for testing to get your license. It’s just $35 and 35 questions. You only need 26 to pass!

And it doesn’t cost a lot to get started either. You can get started with a low-cost option like a $25 Boofwang or $39 TIBradio B-3.

We’ll have hot dogs on the grill, beer for those that can, pop for those that can’t, and the topic for tomorrow’s meetup is:

“If there’s a blackout tomorrow, what is your PACE (Primary, Alternate, Contingency, Emergency) plan?”

Right now, we feel that our town is in good shape since we all use the FRS/GMRS radios. Most of us have a few batteries laying around in case the power goes out for a while, which it always does more than once during the summer, but what would you do if it was for more than a week? How about a month?

We aren’t trying to scare anybody. We just figure it’s better to talk about these things before we need them.

Non-licensed radio users are welcome to join us and discuss this topic too!
